One Baptism

A Look Forward

As we look ahead, beginning next Sunday (October 2nd), to winding down the series on Unity, I would like to offer an encouragement. Between now and then, do a fresh study on baptism. Has the understanding of baptism changed over the decade? Have we made it, unintentionally, less significant than it really is?

Have we added to the teaching of baptism, or have we taken something away? What did your baptism mean to you when you were baptized? What does what you did then mean to you now?

Most of the Christian world puts baptism in there somewhere, but why don’t we all view it the same?

Why does the Apostle Paul need to clarify that there is one baptism? Has something gone wrong in the church at Ephesus? Had there been other traditions concerning baptism making inroads into the church family there?

What happens, or can happen, if we “let down our guard” with reference to baptism? Have we converted people to baptism and not Jesus Christ?

Oh, so many questions. What are the answers?

We will tackle some of these next week. See you then as we return from the Harding Lectures.

Blessings,

Larry
